Tivoli

Welcome back chair.

Tivoli is a chair that takes from a vocabulary of shapes coming from tradition. When you have a vocabulary you can use it to write a poem or a prose. We wanted to compose a popular song, a traditional chair, or rather that aspires to be, given the extreme synthesis of the design, an object intended to remain over time, in continuity with tradition. It is the classic restaurant chair, but the shapes become simple and almost floating. In this project, it is comfort that naturally leads to a friendly aesthetic.

The sculptor Phidias in the metopes of the Parthenon frieze gives us an idea of how much dynamism can be transmitted by a static object, through the use of diagonals, the proportions and the tapered shapes typical of the moving body.

Infinite backrest.

The main component of the Tivoli design is the three-dimensional backrest, which we call the "infinite backrest". It is a shell made with a special multilayer curved in 2 directions. There is never contact of the back with the upper limit of the piece, and the curvature accompanies the natural back line adapting to people of all heights.

The realization of the model took one of us for several days, smoothing a section of solid wood glued to a plywood arch. After a series of tests, the satisfaction with the ergonomic effect was such as to excite the manufacturers, who started the creation of a complete prototype of the chair.

Solemnity in expertise.

The technical expertise of the woodworking, from the spatial development of the backrest to the connections of the structure, gives solemnity to these simple shapes, makes Tivoli an object that establishes a relationship with the person, welcomes it, creates the conditions for a convivial atmosphere

WANDERLUST

A semantic flight between two peninsulas.

Tivoli is the name of a city of art that summarizes many typically Italian beauties, from landscape, to Roman architecture to medieval and Renaissance architecture. But it is also the name of a famous Copenhagen amusement park. The choice of the name therefore declares our passion for the two cultural traditions, the Italian and the Danish ones. During our training, our taste was based on the admiration of the masters of the design of the two peninsulas. In particular, we have always been fascinated by the ability of these designers to study physiology, to serve the needs of the person, but in a warm way, speaking to the spirit with the same simplicity of natural things.
