Osaka Metal

Gimme the base.

Osaka Metal reveals, behind an apparent geometric rigor, unexpected depth and comfort. As is the case with the ideograms of Far Eastern writing: a two-dimensional sign contains a third dimension which is depth of meaning. Comfort is in fact the strength of the project, or rather the body, which as a result of its linear simplicity adapts well to different bases. Osaka Metal is a family made up of chairs, armchairs, lounge armchairs and stools, with a tube or steel rod structure. The family thus responds to the needs of work and concert spaces, catering places, bars, all those environments for the community where the characteristic mechanical resistance is desired to associate the warmth, the warm and domestic climate of the ash.

The sculptor Phidias in the metopes of the Parthenon frieze gives us an idea of how much dynamism can be transmitted by a static object, through the use of diagonals, the proportions and the tapered shapes typical of the moving body.

Brothers in armrest.

The armrest of Osaka Metal is a hereditary trait from Osaka in wood. The shape is the same, slightly reduced in size. The person finds contact with a warm and natural element, which softens the metal structure. The armrest points in the front direction, almost to indicate the direction in which the chair should ideally move to serve the person.

In the tube versions, the armrest incorporates the connection between the front and rear legs, giving the effect of a clear visual distinction between the functional elements of the armchair. In the rod version, the armrest is cantilevered, and seems suspended in the air thanks to the resistant and thin structure.

Harmony and contrasts.

The Osaka Metal seating family is characterized by the composition of highly recognizable and distinct elements for chromatic and material contrasts. Each component expresses its function. All parts are designed to be produced in a simple way, with the minimum waste of material, and to compose themselves solidly together. The Japanese atmosphere, aroused by the synthesis of functions in a few, sober and rigorous traits, is combined with the visual freshness of the slender metal bases. All the elements of the series express, with different visual weights, the same dynamism.

WANDERLUST

Tube or not tube.

The tube versions are extremely simple and practical. The lines seem to arise from essential folds to obtain an object of immediate understanding: a graphic sign that translates into a universal chair icon. The structure, the seat and the armrests are made with different technologies and combined in a balanced graphic harmony.

The stackable chairs, armchairs and stools in rod combine linear geometries with an elastic tension, graphically indicated by the fold of the front section of the sled. The lines of the structure express elasticity and dynamism, giving the impression that the body is floating in space.
